Once a state-approved production has completed, the following agreed-upon procedures outline the requirements for a Motion Picture Company and their independent Utah Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to perform a review of the production activity.

Learn more about how to get started below.

  • Add Utah Film Commission’s Production Manager, Derek Mellus dmellus@utah.gov and film@utah.gov to your production’s call sheet distribution list.
  • Our office will be in touch to schedule a pre-production call with your production team.
  • All incoming productions must have a harassment policy in place for their production. If you don’t have one, please refer to these RESOURCES. If you do have a harassment policy in place, please send a copy to film@utah.gov.
  • Refer to the INCENTIVE PRODUCTION WELCOME GUIDE for more information.

Begin tracking production activity & expenses in Utah. Once Utah production is complete, submit your required documentation to your licensed Utah CPA for review. Below is a summary of the required documentation that needs to be included in your incentive request submission. Please refer to the AGREED UPON PROCEDURES (See Contract) for more information.

  • Provide accounting journal/transaction records and all detail used to substantiate the qualified DOLLARS LEFT IN STATE, remaining expenses, and State of Utah taxes paid
  • Track production information in the following spreadsheets:
  • Provide Screen capture of Utah Recognition Credit in Project’s end credits
  • To remain in good standing with the State, please refer to the Marketing and PR deliverables section below for other requested assets & information.

Please email film@utah.gov to submit your Utah CPA’s name and email address. A login will then be created for the incentive request portal. The CPA must follow the instructions outlined in the AGREED UPON PROCEDURES (See Contract) in order to receive the incentive.
