CASH REBATE

A 20% cash rebate is available to projects that will spend up to $1 million in Utah.

MOTION PICTURE INCENTIVE PROGRAM: $500,000 – $1 Million

Projects that will spend $500,000 to $1 million in the State of Utah may qualify for a 20% post-performance cash rebate.

REQUIREMENTS
  • The MPIP Application must be completed and accepted PRIOR to the start of principal photography
  • Minimum qualified spend in Utah $500,000
  • Maximum qualified spend in Utah $999,999
  • 75% of cast and crew hires are Utah residents (excluding extras and five principal cast members)
  • Demonstrate the Utah Production Budget is 100% financed
  • Express a plan for distribution
  • Show a Utah Film Commission screen credit
  • Supply 3‐5 production film stills
  • Grant access to ATL interviews and/or BTS footage
    • The production will produce the footage and deliver it to the UFC or the UFC will be allowed on set to produce BTS footage and conduct ATL interviews.
  • Deliver an independent audit review from a licensed Utah C.P.A.

AGREED UPON PROCEDURES

The purpose of these agreed-upon procedures is to clearly outline the requirements for a Motion Picture Company after completion of their state approved production and for an Independent Utah CPA performing a review of the Motion Picture Company’s production activity.

  2. Complete the film incentive application
  3. Application review by the UFC for advancement to the GOED* Board
  4. Project review by the GOED Board**
  5. UFC will notify applying company of the GOED Board’s decision within 24 hours of the meeting

COMMUNITY FILM INCENTIVE PROGRAM: UNDER $500,000

The Community Film Incentive Program (CFIP) is designed to foster new and up-and-coming local filmmakers and productions. Please review requirements and important dates since they differ from all other programs. Projects that will spend up-to $500,000 in the State of Utah may qualify for a 20% post-performance cash rebate.

CFIP REQUIREMENTS
  • The CFIP Application must be completed and accepted PRIOR to the start of principal photography
  • Minimum qualified spend in Utah of $20,000
  • Maximum qualified spend in Utah of $500,000
  • 85% of cast & crew and at least one ATL crew members are Utah residents
  • At least $100 a day for cast and crew
  • At least one of the key department heads has to be in the position for the first time
  • Demonstrate the Utah Production Budget is 100% financed
  • Express a plan for distribution
  • Show a Utah Film Commission screen credit
  • Supply five (5) production film stills
  • Grant access to ATL interviews and/or BTS footage
    • The production will produce the footage and deliver it to the UFC or the UFC will be allowed on set to produce BTS footage and conduct ATL interviews.
  • Deliver an independent audit review from a licensed Utah C.P.A.
