New Big-Name Feature Approved to Film in Utah
Kate Mara and Simon Pegg to star in upcoming production
SALT LAKE CITY (November 6, 2018) – The Utah Film Commission today announced the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Board approval of upcoming production, Inheritance, to receive a state film incentive to shoot in Utah.
With an all-star cast attached, including Kate Mara (House of Cards, The Martian) and Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Slaughterhouse Rulez, Star Trek), the high-stakes thriller is scheduled to begin shooting in Salt Lake County in late November 2018, with an estimated spend of $2.75 million in state.
Producers David Wulf and Richard Barton Lewis have experience filming in Utah, having worked on features Looking Glass and Larger Than Life, respectively. Written by Matthew Kennedy and directed by Vaughn Stein (Terminal), who has also worked on the likes of Beauty and the Beast and The Danish Girl, the thriller explores what happens when the patriarch of a wealthy and political family passes away, leaving his daughter with a secret that threatens to unravel and destroy their lives.
Virginia Pearce, Director of the Utah Film Commission, said: “We pride ourselves on supporting a diverse set of productions in state, with a passion for creating compelling content at the heart of it all. We are delighted to welcome the talented team behind Inheritance to film here in Utah and look forward to supporting their filmmaking journey.”
