1Oth ANNUAL “SPOT ON” COMMERCIAL CONTEST
CALL FOR ENTRIES – August 6, 2012
This contest is free and open to all Utah residents and Utah students.
Produce and direct a :30 commercial spot that markets the State of Utah as a destination for film production. Contestants may submit individual spots or campaign style commercials. A panel of judges consisting of motion picture and advertising professionals, will choose the winning commercials.
Entrants have the possibility to be awarded $1,500 for each winning spot, plus a bonus if the spots are part of a campaign. Winners will also receive 2013 Sundance Film Festival credentials, passes and official Utah Film Commission gear. The winning spots will air on broadcast television during the Sundance Film Festival. This is a great opportunity to have your creative work seen by thousands of people including film industry professionals.
BEST OF SHOW Award. One wining spot or campaign will also be chosen as BEST OF SHOW and win an extra $1,500.

Last year’s contest had two winners. Andrew Buys won $3,000.00, with “Utah is Epic” and Sahna Foley won $1,500.00 for “Lose the Green Screen.” Both Andrew and Sahna also won Sundance Film Festival tickets, passes, credentials and a stylish trophy. Not to mention, these winning spots aired on Park City TV during the festival.
Andrew’s spots were so successful that portions of his commercials were shown in movie theaters across the United Kingdom as part of a Utah tourism promotional campaign. Currently, “Utah is Epic” is being aired during “Talking Pictures” on the CW30 and ABC-4.
